How About Some Fun?

Hey, y’all! I know I got a little crazy last week and went all “deep issues” on you. Sorry ’bout that. Sometimes it has to be done. How about let’s get back to your regularly scheduled programming, shall we? We’re hanging out in Florida, yes we are. You peeps are having some cra-zay weather and we don’t want any part of that. The kids have had a marvelous two weeks with lots of friends time. We also ventured to Legoland Florida with a huge group of traveling full time families. It was awesome. The day was very rainy and a bit cold, but we nearly had the park to ourselves. There was very little waiting in line at all, so we just went from ride to ride to ride. Wore ourselves out, we did. Kye rode his first roller coaster...

Poor, Unfortunate Souls or What About Socialization?

As other homeschooling parents can attest, one of the questions homeschoolers get asked the most is “What about socialization?” Everyone seems to be concerned that homeschoolers are locked away in their homes 24/7 with no social interaction whatsoever. That is a scary scenario. It also doesn’t generally happen. In light of this, I just wanted to post a few pictures for those who might be concerned about our children and their opportunities for socialization… We know that this time in Florida is pretty special because we are near so many other full-time families. That will not be the case once we head out of here this spring, so we’re trying to soak it up while we can. We have met some really awesome people and are grateful for the...

Trader Joe’s is That Important and Flying Monkeys are Scary

Let me just leave this right here: Did you hear angels sing? If not, then perhaps you have never experienced Trader Joe’s. I’m sad for you. It. Is. Glorious. Seriously. One of the hardest aspects of this life for me thus far has been grocery shopping. I’ve never really enjoyed grocery shopping, but back when we were in our sticks and bricks, I had a routine at least. I have no routine here. We have very little refrigerator and freezer space, so I have to go to the grocery store more often. And now we’re hopping around to different places and I very rarely grocery shop in the same store twice. It’s not comfortable for a controller such as myself. To top it all off, I have discovered that there are relatively few places...

Cooper is an Arizonan, Manatees, and Back to School

First, a story. A story about a dog. A dog who started his life as an adorable puppy. Adorable. Seriously, he might have been the cutest puppy that ever there was. He was also a demon. Yes, a demon puppy. Chewed everything he could wrap his razor sharp puppy teeth around: children, wires, shoes, clothes, toys, crayons, pencils, notebooks, tables, drywall. Yes, the demon puppy could eat drywall right off of the wall. He was also very fond of running full tilt across an unfinished basement floor straight at the back of someone’s (my) legs and planting said puppy teeth as deep as possible into those legs. This resulted in exceptionally bruised and battered legs. This demon puppy also didn’t seem to grasp the need to urinate and defecate outside and felt...

One Week in Florida (prancercising, Bluegrass, hiking, biking)

First, for your viewing pleasure: We’re big fans of prancercise around here. If you don’t know what prancersing is, you should definitely youtube it. It seems like it would be a grand idea to video the prancercising happening in every location as we travel. At the end of our travels, a prancercising montage video would be exactly what you all will want to see. I am sure of it. It’s perfect. I love it. Barney Prancers. Yes. Now, what next? We are currently in the Orlando area. As I am sure you all well know, Orlando is like the theme park capital of the world. Am I right? Yes. Do we feel the need/have the money to go to all these parks? Nope. We do, however, feel like we can’t be so close to Mickey (hat tip to my brother for that phrase)...

And We’re Off!!

The day finally arrived. Sh*t just got real, people. Launch day. Officially. We crossed state lines. Seriously. This is what it looked like.   Y’all take note of a new link to connect with us on Instagram. I’m also considering putting together a Facebook page for Big B and our adventures. Not completely sure how that lines up with my desire to take a Facebook break yet, though, so we’ll see. Also, see the link at the top of the blog next to “Home” entitled “Where the Hell are we?” That would be a lovely map I put together with our stopping points thus far. To get a more detailed, fun map I will need to fork out some money and I’m just not quite ready to do that yet. You can see our trip so far, though. We...
