Parenting With Honesty, Cold Lakes, Walmart, and Painted Pianos

Parenting. Tough job, right? Most people have a hard enough time making good decisions for their own lives, let alone for someone else. And me? I chose to be in charge of four other people. Sometimes I think I’m as crazy as that sounds. Truthfully, when I started having kids it was mostly because I wanted to be  able to say this: As we all know, there is no manual for parenthood. The best that any child can hope for is that their parents will just do the best they can. The best they know how. What happens when flawed people (and we’re all flawed) become flawed parents? Seems like a big mess to me. And sometimes (at least in our house) it is a big mess. And sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes it’s a beautiful mess. I have really great kids. Many people have told me over...

How About Some Fun?

Hey, y’all! I know I got a little crazy last week and went all “deep issues” on you. Sorry ’bout that. Sometimes it has to be done. How about let’s get back to your regularly scheduled programming, shall we? We’re hanging out in Florida, yes we are. You peeps are having some cra-zay weather and we don’t want any part of that. The kids have had a marvelous two weeks with lots of friends time. We also ventured to Legoland Florida with a huge group of traveling full time families. It was awesome. The day was very rainy and a bit cold, but we nearly had the park to ourselves. There was very little waiting in line at all, so we just went from ride to ride to ride. Wore ourselves out, we did. Kye rode his first roller coaster...

Cooper is an Arizonan, Manatees, and Back to School

First, a story. A story about a dog. A dog who started his life as an adorable puppy. Adorable. Seriously, he might have been the cutest puppy that ever there was. He was also a demon. Yes, a demon puppy. Chewed everything he could wrap his razor sharp puppy teeth around: children, wires, shoes, clothes, toys, crayons, pencils, notebooks, tables, drywall. Yes, the demon puppy could eat drywall right off of the wall. He was also very fond of running full tilt across an unfinished basement floor straight at the back of someone’s (my) legs and planting said puppy teeth as deep as possible into those legs. This resulted in exceptionally bruised and battered legs. This demon puppy also didn’t seem to grasp the need to urinate and defecate outside and felt...

And We’re Off!!

The day finally arrived. Sh*t just got real, people. Launch day. Officially. We crossed state lines. Seriously. This is what it looked like.   Y’all take note of a new link to connect with us on Instagram. I’m also considering putting together a Facebook page for Big B and our adventures. Not completely sure how that lines up with my desire to take a Facebook break yet, though, so we’ll see. Also, see the link at the top of the blog next to “Home” entitled “Where the Hell are we?” That would be a lovely map I put together with our stopping points thus far. To get a more detailed, fun map I will need to fork out some money and I’m just not quite ready to do that yet. You can see our trip so far, though. We...

On Quitting Facebook and My Beautiful Oldest Child

Hello!!! Welcome! Some of you may have been worried that I had disappeared completely. Or maybe you didn’t notice at all. This post has nothing to do with our new traveling life. This blog is not only a great way for me to share our adventures with friends and family, it’s a place for me to write. I feel the need to write. I have things to say. I don’t expect everyone to agree with the things that I have to say. In fact, I know for a fact that some of you won’t. I don’t mind disagreement as long as it’s respectful of me and of my space (this blog). So, feel free to comment. And now, I’m inserting a happy thought here. I love my family. Look how cute they are: So much to love there. So much. Now, let’s talk about...

The Much Anticipated “After” Video!!

Here we go, everyone!! We have finally declared Big B “done.” Not really, it’s probably a never ending project, but it is done enough. For now. So, here is a reminder of what we started with. Sorry, we don’t have any good “before” pictures, just this video. Big B before So, here she is now. Big B After Here are some still pictures for your enjoyment.   Phew. That was a lot of work. And so worth it. It looks great and it feels like home. A short list of things we’ve done to the interior: tore up flooring throughout, tore out bed/cabinets/everything in back bedroom, tore out dinette and RV couch, primed and painted all walls and all remaining cabinets, added new cabinet hardware, painted entire ceiling, spray painted...
