Cute Guest Blogger Has Her Say

Hello readers,

Today on this blog, something is out of whack, yes, something is VERY different. This blog has currently been taken over by Brinkley Barney AKA Toni’s daughter. You are probably wondering why I am writing and my mother is not. My mother has fallen ill with a serious case of writer’s block so all you readers get the privilege to read this blog post written by the one and only me. Keep in mind that the last time I wrote a blog post I was eight and I hope things have improved since then.

Now, for those who don’t know me, (though I think most of you will) I am the second eldest of Josh and Toni and turning fourteen in two days. Aw, I am growing up so fast, I know, I know. I just want to be able to drive already. I am also an awesome kid, a really awesome kid. I am a bookworm and a nerd. I read all the time. I am homeschooled which has both disadvantages and advantages but trust me, the pros outweigh the cons.

I live in a small space with five other people and a dog. Which is very difficult, but I make it work. (Headphones and a book) We travel America! We are big travelers. Honestly, before we hit the road and were just talking about this, I thought it would just be an idea. My parents are dreamers and they dream a lot. Little did we know, my mother was planting a seed in everyone’s brain. This I something my mom wanted for a long time, we were always a traveling family, whether it was the dunes or a trip to the beach, we traveled more than the average family.

Eventually the seed grew and my mom was like: “Hey guys, you know the house that we just moved into a year ago and just fixed it up to work for us? Yeah well, what do you say to selling it and buying an RV and hitting the road?”

And at first I was like: “Yeah no.”

But we talked more and Mom won me over and all that was left was to convince Jaten. Jaten was tough and it took weeks of working it out until one day we were driving to the library and Mom had been discussing it and Jaten said. “Fine.”

I am sure you know what happened from there: A chaotic process of getting the house ready to sell, selling the house, buying and fixing an RV, and finally moving. Now Mom is blogging about it which brings me back to present. She can’t write so I will be writing this post. Here goes.

We have had a busy couple of weeks. We went to a wildlife refuge near Savannah. It was very pretty.

It was really fun and much more preferred than the zoos, animals in the wild are better than in captivity. We saw NINE alligators and hundreds of very happy birds.

We also went to the Boone Plantation. We learned about slavery and how slaves were kept. It was very interesting and sad. We got a tour of the ‘Big House’ where the owners lived and some of the slave cabins. It was VERY pretty there and Mom fell in love with the big trees.Boone Boone2

Lastly, we hiked on the Appalachians, which were gorgeous.  Mom had a smile on her face the whole time for her love of hiking. Hiking is her happy place. I also think it’s Cooper’s happy place because he was in love.

It was a very fun couple of weeks. On Saturday we move to Tennessee, we are very excited to get some new things done. Even more excited to start heading up the east coast as the weather warms up! Spring is a great season here in SC and we are getting awesome weather.

Until next time! (Which may be never)

No offense, Boo, I love you dearly, but I think you are trying to fool us. You look VERY cold in some of those pictures. I know, you said that it is warm but… pictures don’t lie. Other than that- GREAT update. You are a writer at heart!!

It was just cold up in the mountains, but it was warm everywhere else. Thank you!

Nice post Brinkley! I liked to hear your perspective on the way we started our adventure. I can’t wait to celebrate your birthday on Friday but unlike you I can wait until you can drive. I hope that you have a chance to write another blog post for us in the future.
